White Gold Cornwall
The White Gold Cornwall Foundation do vital work across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, supporting children and young people in various ways, including mentoring, advice and advocacy to help them navigate life’s challenges.
r53 Digital have worked with White Gold Cornwall for several years, initially providing a redesign of the charity’s website back in 2017 as well as website consultation and support, and content management.
Having hosted and supported the website for many years, r53 Digital were recently chosen to build a third version of the website to provide a more contemporary look and feel. The project allowed White Gold Cornwall to approach their content architecture with a fresh slate to determine the best way to put across their message to their target audience.
Required content was ported over to the development environment alongside new media (of which some some was created in collaboration with Mayn Creative) and integrated with the improved functionality of a modern Wordpress theme..
Additionally, r53 Digital redesigned the White Gold Cornwall branding to go with the updated website.
The result is a modern, image-driven design that presents White Gold Cornwall’s services in a highly effective and engaging manner.
Carlos Zapata
Carlos Zapata is a Colombian-born artist who currently resides in Falmouth, Cornwall. Carlos has exhibited internationally, with works held in numerous private collections and museums around the world.
Carlos came to r53 Digital looking to update his Wordpress website and improve the presentation of his many works.
The first step was to gain access to the website hosting – at r53 Digital, we can work with both our own servers or your hosting environment. We will always suggest best practices for third party hosting platforms.
After updating Wordpress, the website theme and existing plugins, we set about adjusting the layout of the website using WPBakery Page Builder, which was already installed with the theme.
The content and site settings were reworked for improved search engine visibility, and a secure certificate installed and domain settings adjusted to redirect all URLs to improve canonicalization.
Additionally, the branding for the website was refreshed in simple fashion to mirror the clean design of the website.
Sea Kayaking Cornwall
Sea Kayaking Cornwall are a Falmouth-based outdoor activities group, specifically sea kayaking. A mix of training and expeditions around the world offer challenges to even the most experienced kayakers.
In 2020, Sea Kayaking Cornwall came to r53 Digital with a desire for a complete revamp of their website from the bottom up: re-organisation of content; a simpler website architecture; new colour palette; and better integration of booking system.
Working closely, r53 Digital and Sea Kayaking Cornwall produced a high quality, Wordpress-based website that catered for all clients and provided an easily accessible information portal for customers.
Big Red Recruitment
Long time client, Big Red Recruitment are IT recruitment specialists based in the Midlands and recruiting for vacancies across the UK.
The WordPress website provided to the company by a third party started experiencing issues after a long overdue upgrade to a secure PHP version.
With some investigation, it was found that a custom mail function that distributed application details to both Big Red Recruitment staff and a third party application managfement tool was not doing it’s job.
An out-of-the-box plugin solution was considered as it could potentially have provided a much easier support process for Big Red Recruitment but unfortunately, integration with the third party application management system could not be achieved and with time pressing on the service outage, a reworking of the custom mail solution was provided.
It is always worth considering when building a website, where your venture may be in one, two, five or ten years down the line – future proofing client websites in as prescient a way as can be achieved is something valued at r53 Digital.
Sanctum Health
Sanctum Health provide a range of health and beauty products via their online shop that has been active for over a decade.
Sanctum Health and r53 Digital go back a long way.
Originally, Sanctum Health was built using an in-house ASP-based CMS. As time and technology moved on, the online shop was migrated over to Magento, complete with a facelift for the website.
After many years with Magento, r53 Digital then migrated Sanctum Health to a simpler Shopify solution that could be fully managed by the client.
r53 Digital continues to provide support for Sanctum Health on any Shopify issues and is a great example of how easy it can be to migrate from one system to another with the right experience.
Who is r53 Digital?
r53 Digital is me, Rob Camp. As a digital professional with over 18 years experience in designing, building, marketing and managing websites, I have continually revised my working practices to strip away the unneccesary in digital projects, and provide my clients with an honest and effective medium for presenting their venture to an internet audience.
Where is r53 Digital?
Based firmly in Falmouth, Cornwall - where the land bubbles up from the sea. It's a great place to be.
I'm also to be found occassionally in Brighton, where I cut my teeth and still consider a home of sorts.
Obviously, working in digital, I can effectively be anywhere with an internet connection and am always available by phone, email or video call.
Why r53 Digital?
"How do you feel about being a captain of industry?" someone once asked me prior to me taking on the reins of my own business. It felt like the right thing to do and over 10 years later, I still enjoy working with clients to find the right solution for them.
As for the name, while branding design is an art in itself, the naming of a thing should quickly come to mind - a simple play on my initials in the alphabet.
